Hello all,
Another month has arrived and with December comes Christhmas and another SoundDesigners podcast. For the 33rd episode we invited Alex Figueira, born in Vale de Santarm (Portugal) but currently based in London. First and foremost a music lover, motivated by Dj Vibe's "4 Bairro" weekly radioshow on national radio "Comercial" and Lisbons own radio "Energia" back in the early 90's, he acquired a refined musical taste while keeping the dancefloor on his sights (and feet). After acquiring some very cheap turntables and a very old mixer one of his mix-tapes ended up being played by the then manager of a club in Leiria called "The Fish Night Club" who's resident dj was, for many years, Buzzin Fly's Alex Santos, one of the portuguese underground dance music movement pioneer's. Invited to play on a Friday during the summer of 1998 he fully realized how addictive djing can be. During the early 2000's he was one of the resident dj's of "F·tima Lopes" (Bairro Alto, Lisbon) along with Paulo Roque. In 2002 one of his tracks was chosen to be featured on a compilation by "Dance Club", the first portuguese dance music magazine. In 2009 "Winter Wind" is published by Alex Santos "Playground Digital" label. In 2010 he published his first EP on Modern Walker's "ISendIt" label, with remixes from Djazzy and the label boss. Another track was published under his name on the same label, along with artists like Matt Flores, Alex V and Helly Larson in 2012. With his studio preparation almost complete we will certainly be able to enjoy more music from him ;)
Alex's motto while djing is only one: quality, genuine underground dance music. You will never hear him take the short route to a full dancefloor playing music who's only intent is to make money. Come with us in this month's journey :) play it loud!
